The Wellsworth and Suddery Railway was one of the three railways that became part of the North Western Railway. After it was annexed to the NWR, it became Edward's Branch Line.
It is recorded in The Island of Sodor: Its People, History and Railways that it had four 0-6-0 tank engines of its own. The railway opened in 1870, so most likely at least two of the locomotives date back to this period, though it is not known if they helped build the line or if it was the contractor's locomotives who did that work. All four were still in service by the time of the 1914 grouping, though. No further mention of them is made, but based on advent of the later NWR push-pull trains supplementing the branch line, it might be assumed that they have been scrapped or at least relocated.
