Unhappy Landing is a 1985 annual story.
Plot
One day Percy tells Thomas that some men have just arrived at the airfield to jump out of an aeroplane with some parachutes. Thomas' driver explains that the men are from the army and have come for a special training exercise, but Thomas thinks that jumping out of aeroplanes is silly. The next day when Thomas stops at the station by the river, the stationmaster tells him that one of the soldiers has landed in the river and asks Thomas to take him back to the airfield. Thomas refuses at first, but after his driver reminds him where he would have been if Terence had not helped him out of the snow he quickly apologises and hurries to help the soldier. That night Thomas tells Percy he is glad he had helped, but still thinks jumping out of aeroplanes is silly.
