Thomas and the Ten Balloons is a counting book. The book has a design which allows the plastic balloons to disappear one by one as the pages are turned.

One windy day, Thomas and the engines see ten bright balloons floating in the sky. But the balloons keep flying away. First there are ten... then nine... then eight and so on. The balloons fly all around the Island and the engines and residents of Sodor watch as they go one by one in a variety of different ways - until there are none left at all! The book ends with everyone fast asleep.
