Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree is the fourteenth Ladybird book, based on the episode Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree. It is illustrated using photographs from the television series.
Plot
It is two days before Christmas and everybody is getting ready for the carol concert. Sir Topham Hatt chooses Thomas for the job to collect the Christmas tree which makes the other engines jealous. When Thomas collects the Christmas tree, he forgets to wear his snowplough which causes him to get stuck in a snowdrift. Meanwhile, back at the yard, the other engines are impatient and are wondering where Thomas is. Sir Topham Hatt tells them that Thomas is stranded somewhere near Edward's Station. He chooses Donald and Douglas to find Thomas. The twins find Thomas buried beneath a snowdrift and are able to free him and bring him and the missing Christmas tree home. Later, that night, the party begins and Harold brings Father Christmas to the party.

- The book is actually a closer adaptation to the original Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree book rather than the episode since it features Percy, Duck and Toby cheering Donald and Douglas on as well as Gordon and Henry grumbling in the sheds, the events that do not happen in the episode but do in the original book version.
