Kikansha Thomas - Sodor-tou no Nakama-tachi cover-1-

Kikansha Thomas - Sodor tou no Nakamatachi (Japanese: きかんしゃトーマス ソドーとうのなかまたち, The Friends of Sodor translated in English) was a Game Boy Color game developed and published by Tamsoft that was released as a Japan exclusive. The game was released in Japan on September 28, 2001.

The player controls Thomas as they explore the different parts of Sodor. Along riding the track, the player comes across empty spaces where they have to pick the right track piece which fits. As they further explore, the player will meet different characters who will talk with Thomas or might give him a task. The tasks range from a number of mini-games which once completed allow the player to further continue. If the player fails, they must restart the level. There are four levels to start off (Which are the farm, the hills, the docks and the quarry) which the player must complete each one in order. A final level (Which is the town) is unlocked in the end. Other characters encountered are hidden which Thomas must use his whistle to reveal them.

The player can unlock small biographies of each character that they encounter.

  • This is the first game to be released on a handheld.
  • This is also the only game to be released by Gullane Entertainment in Japan.

  • Thomas, Edward and Gordon's faces are colored blue, while Henry and Percy's faces are colored green.
    • James and Duck's faces are also colored, but they are yellow.
      • This is due to the way the Game Boy Color handles color pallets. The pallets are blocky, so some colors, such as Thomas' paint overlaps over his face because the pallet is shaped in a square around the rest of him, and there is no way to make each individual pixel a different color.
  • Donald and Douglas are missing their numbers on their tenders.
  • Bill and Ben are missing their nameplates.
