The American Diesels are diesel shunters who live and work in the United States of America.

Biography

Thomas & Friends

One of these diesels is seen pulling a goods train through Arizona, she nearly collides with Thomas, Ace and Nia when they are rolling backwards down the Morenci Loop. Nia apologises to her, but the diesel reassures her that she is fine, before the engines then set off again and part ways.

TheArizonaDiesels

Two diesels are later seen pulling and shunting trucks at the San Francisco Docks. As to whether or not one of them is the same one Thomas, Ace and Nia met is unknown.

Technical Details

Basis

The American Diesels are based on the Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 diesel shunter which worked at the Manchester Ship Canal. No. 4002 Arundel Castle, affectionately known as "Billy", is preserved in working order by the East Lancashire Railway Diesel Group. Sister locomotive No. 4001 Alnwick Castle is also preserved as a static non-operational exhibit at the Winfields Store site at Rising Bridge. Frankie is another member of this class.

Livery

The American Diesels are painted blue and orange with gold lining.
