Station Mystery is a magazine story.

Plot

It is the Fat Controller's birthday, but at Knapford no one says "happy birthday" to him. This makes him upset and Thomas feels sorry for him too. Later the stationmaster tells the Fat Controller that there's an emergency, but when he arrives at his office the Fat Controller finds his family and the staff have arranged a surprise birthday party for him.
