Trivia

  • This is the first US VHS to feature a few things:
    • The first VHS to have the on-screen Video Treasures logo, though it is the fourth (and last) distributed by them before they were merged to form Anchor Bay Entertainment on May 2, 1995.
    • The first VHS in which the episode featured in the release's title is not the first featured episode.
    • The first VHS to include "and Other Thomas Stories" in the opening title card, rather than just the featured episode's name.
    • The first VHS with a song at the end.
    • The first VHS without the end credits roll over the final shot of the last episode.
    • The first VHS with Duke, Peter Sam, Sir Handel, Rheneas, Skarloey, Rusty, and Stepney's nameboards.
    • The first US VHS to feature episodes with stereo audio.
  • This marks the only US release of a few things:
    • The only release to title Trucks as Rusty Helps Peter Sam, as other releases it was featured in refer to it by its original title.
    • The only US DVD to have a narrow gauge engine on the menu as the spotlight.
    • The only US and Canadian release to feature A Bad Day for Sir Handel, Rusty to the Rescue and Gone Fishing (Junior Campbell version).
  • The 1995 VHS uses the closing variant of the Video Treasures logo at the beginning of the tape.
  • On the front cover of the VHS, an image from the fourth series episode, Home at Last is used.
  • After Sleeping Beauty, no fading in of the nameboard sequence is used.
  • This US DVD marks the last of a few things:
  • On the back cover of the 2008 DVD release, images from the seventh series episode, Trusty Rusty are used.
  • This and Henry and the Elephant were the only DVDs released by Anchor Bay Entertainment without a booklet.
  • Some stickers from the show Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! are included in some copies in the Anchor Bay DVD release.
  • On the front cover of the 2008 DVD release, Rusty's eyebrows are thicker.

Goofs

  • On the front cover of the 2008 DVD release, Rusty has no wheels, and grass is visible behind his driver. Steam is also seen coming from Rusty on both the front cover and in the main menu, despite him being a diesel.
  • Rusty's eyes are wonky on the front of the 1995/1996 cover.
  • Duncan is seen on the 2008 back cover, but he does not appear in any episodes.
  • The DVD has mono audio, even though the VHS release was stereo.
