Rail Safe with Thomas & Friends is a special booklet focusing on railway safety available exclusively in Australia from CityRail and Countrylink and promoted by HiT Entertainment and the New South Wales State Government. It was released by Railcorp in 2009 and then re-published in 2010 to celebrate the 65th anniversary. It is still available on heritage trains and at Day Out with Thomas events. It is filled with stories, games and safety rules.

Stories

  • Football Fever: After a football win by Sodor United, Sir Topham Hatt's grandson, Stephen, drops his football due to James hissing his valves. The ball went rolling on the platform and Stephen remembered the rule of not jumping onto the tracks to pick up the ball. Luckily, The Diesel bounced the ball back on the platform.
  • Phillip's Big Day!: A picture story of a boy named Phil who is excited about his trip to Sydney. He remembered all the safety rules. Just then, a gust of wind blew his mother's hat off her head and it landed on the tracks. The train was pulling into the station and Phillip remembered that he must always hold a grown-up's hand when a train was pulling into the platform and to never go on the tracks. Phillip waited for the platform controller to pick up his mother's hat.
