“I knew I was faster than you!”
―Thomas to James

Racing Engines is a magazine story puzzle.

It is a bright, sunny day on Sodor when Thomas and James decide to have a race to Maithwaite. Thomas tells James that he is the fastest, but he soon has to stop at a signal. James takes the lead. Shortly, James passes a pond and stops to look at his reflection. James is so busy admiring himself that he does not notice Thomas overtake him. Thomas arrives at Maithwaite Station just in front of James and boasts that he knew he was faster.
