Pretty Polly was a London and North Eastern Railway engine mentioned by the Elderly Brakevan in the annual story, Galloping Sausage. She was named after a racehorse; the van commenting that it was a silly name for an engine. Built in 1925 as an A1 class locomotive, she was converted to an A3 in 1944. Originally numbered 2560, she was later renumbered 61, becoming 60061 under British Railways. She was scrapped in 1963. She is one of Gordon and Flying Scotsman's sisters.
