“It's the One-Eyed Truck!”
― Monty

Percy's Scary Tale, originally titled Scaredy, Scaredy, is the fifteenth episode of Jack and the Sodor Construction Company. It was released on the US DVD On Site with Thomas and Other Adventures.

Plot

Percy has been sent to work with Alfie on Halloween night. During a break, Kelly decides to tell everyone a scary story about a one-eyed truck. Percy and Alfie hope that the story is not too scary, as neither one of them like to be scared. Max and Monty then complain that "it's just a story." Jack finds this insulting, so he shushes them. With that, Kelly begins to tell the story.

After Kelly finished telling the story, The Pack go back to work. But Max and Monty give Alfie and Percy a fright. Jack is furious and tells them to leave Percy and Alfie alone, but the twins just laugh. Later, after teasing everyone about the story, Max and Monty are sent to dump some dirt. But on their way to the forest, Max and Monty get scared themselves. Then they hear an owl hooting and a fox barking which frightens them both. But when they arrive at the dump, they hear a whistle, and see a light thinking it is the one-eyed truck. They hastily dump their loads, and run away in fright, but soon feel silly when they realise it was Thomas. Percy is happy to see his best friend, and Thomas explains that the Fat Controller sent him to bring up more trucks. Everyone has a good laugh about it.

  • This is the last episode written by Jonathan Trueman.
  • This is one of only two episodes not to be dubbed in any foreign language apart, the other being Jack Owns Up.
  • The working title for this episode was going to be Scaredy, Scaredy, although that title is listed on the Virgin TV Anytime website.
  • This is the only Jack and the Sodor Construction Company episode to not feature Miss Jenny.

Goofs

  • Despite the title, Kelly told the scary tale, instead of Percy.
  • When Max and Monty wonder about the scary noises in the US dub, Monty and the narrator swap their voices.
  • In the UK dub, when Thomas puffs beside Percy, the American term "freight cars" is used.
  • Alfie is said to have chuffed, but he is an excavator and his fuel type is diesel.
