Percy's Promise is a magazine story it was illustrated by using photographs from the television series.

Plot

Holidaymakers love to visit the Island of Sodor every summer, especially when the weather is fine. One day Thomas tells Percy that he will be busy in the evening, and asks him to take the children home which Percy agrees to do so. Although Edward warns him that the storm is coming later in the day, Percy tells him that he can get through anything no matter what.

Later as Percy arrives at the station to couple to Annie and Clarabel, storm clouds are already looming ahead. And on his way home, the river rises fast and the water laps at his wheels. Percy however bravely presses on through the water and with one more huge effort, he brings the train home.

Thomas and the Fat Controller congratulate Percy for keeping his promise despite everything, and for being a really useful engine.
