Template:Infobox character After Skarloey was built in Whitehaven, a paddle steamer, the P.S. Cumberland Road, took him down the Irish Sea and around the Isle of Man to Kirk Ronan on Sodor. As there were no cranes at the harbour to lift Skarloey out, the steamer's derricks were used instead.
