“Duck's on the beach! Hurray!”
―The holidaymakers

On the Beach is a rhyming magazine story.

Duck is working by the coast and is becoming increasingly tired. In the yard, his brakes fail and he crashes through the buffers and onto the beach. Duck becomes sad, but soon he attracts quite a crowd. The people on the beach decide to sit with Duck and have their picnic. Now Duck wishes he could stay on the beach.

  • As well as sharing the same title, this story has a lot in common with the 2004 magazine story, On the Beach.

  • Duck's running board is red instead of black and he does not have side rods.
  • In the second illustration, Duck's coupling is missing.
