- “Tomorrow you've got to paint Bill and Ben - and they're even worse than these two!”
- ― Sir Topham Hatt
New Paint is a magazine story.
Plot
Michael is a new painter at the engine shed. He is nervous, but soon settles in. But then, it is the Scottish twins' turn to be painted. They tell the painter to take off their nameplates so they do not get splashed with paint and that all the other painters always start by painting their tenders. With no numbers or nameplates, Michael does not know which twin is which. Then, the Fat Controller arrives and soon sorts the problem out. It turns out that the Fat Controller did not actually know which twin was which; he just guessed.
