Molly (later re-titled Molly the Very Special Engine) is the thirty-ninth book the My Thomas Story Library series.


Thomas meets a new engine named Molly, who is sad because she has to take empty trucks. Thomas tries to help by brightening up Molly's load with tarpaulins and lanterns, but his plan backfires. Molly soon learns that sometimes empty trucks can be important.




  • Molly's buffers are black when they should be silver.
  • In the last illustration, shadows can be seen under Molly and Gordon's eyes, but not under Thomas'.
  • Under Molly's smokebox, the part is meant black on the sides, but it is yellow.
