  • Disaster! Disaster! It's a disaster on the Minis page. Someone likes calling the Mono engines Old School, and calling the Winter ones Chillin', also calling Robot engines Robo, calling Racing engines Racer, and Super engines Hero, Holiday engines Christmas!!! Please talk to an admin about this and tell him to block the user who's just put everything back to the start, okay? This gets me annoyed.

    • Okay, it seems like I have been summoned. It's strange that I have somehow been involved in this. Contray to what Rebeccataylor1972, I wasn't going to get cross at anyone and I've never written online that I didn't like the edits. I'm kind of more focused on the devoted Wiki than looking at the snapshot the Thomas Wikia covers.

Rebeccataylor1972 and myself are actually right, and nearly ever other fan and parent of the range are actually wrong. What the collector checklists that comes with every MINIS blind bag list are just the names of the themes and pictures of the engines, and in some countries, the name of the engine that's been used in that theme, not the specific name of the engine. Now what so many people have erroneously done is put two and two together and used the theme's name with an engine and called it exactly like that. But tell me, have you actually seen Mattel or an official source use those names in full? When you're referring to the theme, of course you would use that theme name that represents the whole group of engines, and that is obviously correct. But it turns out that some specific names are different to the theme. These names have been used on the Walmart website, Fisher-Price's website, Mattel's customer service website, the Thomas Facebook gallery, and this collector poster that's been present on the page for months. So as an example, the Chillin' theme is a group of five engines, but Winter Skarloey and Winter Paxton are the engines in that theme. Some of the name changes from the theme actually make more sense. Heroes Hiro doesn't really work since you wouldn't use words like that, but Super Hiro precisely describes it. This naming system only seem to happen for the 2015 series. The 2016 system actually renames the Racers theme to Racing making the name connection more clear, something that's been overlooked.

I put in the actual names of the engines into the Thomas Wikia article once and they stayed there for quite some time. It was a little annoying that someone who didn't know changed it back, and it is sometimes annoying hearing the wrong names being said, even when many people visit the Thomas MINIS Wikia. Even one of the admins thought I got all the names wrong. I don't want to come off rude though. Seriously, there's different things that used to work me up much more occasionally, like how some refer to the toy range when they actually mean the company, or loads of people type Trackmaster instead of TrackMaster, and there's plenty of old forum posts up to a decade ago when I kept telling people that Motor Road and Rail is the name of the range and Tomy is the company, not the range name.

Really, it's Fisher-Price's fault for not making the names of the MINIS clear enough in the first place. So that's the truth, but Rebeccataylor1972 could've dealt with this in less of a rude manner.

    • Hello Jdogman! I really appreciate you taking your time out to write a detailed response to the issue that has been going on for the past 2 days. I thank you for also addressing me personally with your side of the story. After reading your explanation, I totally understand exactly what you are saying. This poster you put up also very evidently clarifies your explanation and complements it very well. I sincerely apologise for my part of the confusion, as I didn't properly understand why Rebeccataylor1972 was undoing my edits for because there was no clear and calm explanation, and along with all the rude attitude and constant capitalised and overreactions towards me. I notified admins to deal with the problem. He also edited the Minis Wikia and name called me, so I felt annoyed myself. But I do apologise for my misunderstanding. Sorry to Rebeccataylor1972 also, if I misunderstood. But all in all, you didn't have to be rude about the whole situation.

I completely get what you are saying, and I agree with you after your explanation. However because of the uncoordinated names and different interpretations of the Minis and themes on different pieces of merchandise and websites etc., I think it is best to just leave the page alone for now with the 'theme' names. As there is much confusion about the 'real' name. In future, when Fisher-Price, Mattel release a second poster etc. with distinct names like this one, we can change over the names then, as then we will have solid evidence that the double names are continuing, if that makes sense.

Sorry for my long essay, LOL, and thanks again for your explanation. Have a wonderful day :)

  • Hey Jdogman, I just uploaded pictures of old TOMY Thomas, Henry and Gordon merchandise. Thomasfan said I had to ask you about it before I upload anymore pictures.

    • Okay, well from seeing that first one, they are the TOMY Trains range, so they can just be called "TOMYTrainsThomas.jpg" and so on. I suppose they would just go on the Motor Road and Rail article.

  • Don't you think we should put the Thomas TrackMaster HiT Toys and Thomas TrackMaster Fisher Price on this wiki?

  • I hate to tell you this, but Jamesis5 is thinking TrackMaster Ferdinand can be both Greatest Moments and MIR. Do you agree?
