Mattel, Inc. is an international toy company and the current owner of HiT Entertainment after buying out the former owners, Apax Partners, for a sum of $680,000,000 (USD). The company is founded by Harold Matson and Elliot Handler in 1945. They are most famous for their toy products, such as Barbie, Monster High, Polly Pocket, Matchbox, and Hot Wheels.
Fisher-Price, who manufacturers the TrackMaster, Take-n-Play and, Wooden Railway ranges (as well as many other Thomas-related toys) is a subsidiary of Mattel. They also took over the rights from Polly Pocket after Bluebird Toys closed.
