Margaret Emily Wale Awdry (1912-21 March 1989) was the wife of the Wilbert Awdry, sister-in-law of George Awdry, mother of Christopher, Veronica, and Hilary, grandmother of Richard Awdry, and daughter-in-law of Lucy and Vere Awdry. It was she who urged Wilbert to send the stories he told Christopher to a publisher.
She met Wilbert Awdry in Jerusalem, where he was teaching at St. George's School, they moved back to England in 1936 and were married two years later.
She makes a cameo in the third illustration of Percy Runs Away with her husband and their children on a platform when Percy passes by with some trucks.
