Jinty and Pug are two tank engines borrowed from the Mainland to run the North Western Railway while the engines visited England. Jinty ran Thomas' Branch Line while Thomas was away and also helped Thomas when the latter crashed into some buffers.
Jinty is based on an LMS 3F 0-6-0T. Pug is based on an LMS 0F Kitson 0-4-0ST. Their names originate from their classes' nicknames "Jinty" and "Pug".
Jinty and Pug are painted in the British Railways' black livery.
- The Eight Famous Engines (do not speak)
Jinty's role in the Railway Series was replaced with Oliver in the TV series.
- In the second illustration of "The Fat Controller's Engines", Jinty appears to be faceless.
