- “Be quick! Milk goes off in warm weather like this.”
- ―Sir Topham Hatt
Hot and Bothered! is a magazine story.
One warm summer morning, the Fat Controller asks Gordon to collect some milk from the dairy. He warns him to be quick as milk goes off in warm weather, but Gordon is confident that he will collect it in no time. However, after Gordon picks up the milk and sets off for the Docks, he has to stop because a tree has fallen onto the line. He is told to stay in the shade and stay still, but he impatiently shakes the milk tankers around. When workmen finally chop up the tree, Gordon returns to the shed, and the other engines notice a funny smell. They realise that Gordon's milk has turned into cheese, and Gordon turns bright red.
