Gordon and Ferdinand is a magazine story illustrated using photographs from the CGI television series.

Plot

The Fat Controller decides to give Ferdinand a reward for being a really useful engine. He tells him to go with Gordon to deliver the Lion of Sodor to the Duke and Duchess of Boxford's Summer House. Gordon is not happy to be working with silly old Ferdinand, so he decides to take a quiet track to the summer house so that no one will see him working with Ferdinand. After a while, they come across some workmen carrying out track repairs who cheer for Ferdinand.

Gordon then takes Ferdinand through Maron station; he is sure there will be no one there. He is surprised to see the station crowded with people including Dowager Hatt and some children who make a great fuss over Ferdinand. Gordon has had enough and decides to take the Fenland Track. The track is not very stable and despite Ferdinand's warnings, Gordon speeds on. The statue's flatbed hits a bump and the Lion of Sodor bounces into a pool of mud beside the track.

Gordon realises that he does need Ferdinand's help and Gordon sends the Logging Loco to fetch Rocky. The Lion of Sodor is soon recovered, but it is absolutely filthy! The engines know just what to do and they take the statue to the Sodor Steamworks for a clean before continuing on their journey. This time, Gordon takes the busiest tracks and allows Ferdinand to head the train. At the summerhouse, the Duke is pleased to see them and Gordon introduces him to Ferdinand, his great new friend!
