I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside is a popular British song written by John A. Glover-Kind in 1907. In the eighteenth series episode, Thomas the Quarry Engine, Mavis leads the song later joined by Thomas, Porter, Salty and Cranky. Toad later performs the song in the nineteenth series episode, Toad and the Whale. The song was later heard instrumentally on Mr. Bubbles' machine in the 4D attraction, Bubbling Boilers.

Lyrics

Original version

Mavis: Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside
(Salty joins in) Oh! I do like to be beside the sea!
Oh! I do like to stroll along the Prom, Prom, Prom!
Where the brass bands play
(Cranky joins in) "Tiddely-om-pom-pom!"
(Thomas joins in) Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside
(Porter joins in) Oh! I do like to be beside the sea
All: When I'm down beside the sea
I'm beside myself with glee
Beside the seaside!
Beside the sea!

Series 19 version

Toad: Oh, he does like to be back in the water
Oh, he does like to be back in the sea
Now he's back inside the sea
He's beside himself with glee
Beyond the seaside,
Inside the sea.
