Thomas and the Jet Engine is a "Step into Reading" book.
Plot
Sir Topham Hatt tells Thomas to collect a jet engine from Brendam Docks. Cranky is careless unloading it and his hook knocks the switch and starts the jet engine. Thomas races past a very surprised James, Henry, Percy and Trevor. Gordon sees this and remains quiet for some time after.

- This book is based on the sixth series episode of the same name, with the addition of Troublesome Trucks and Trevor who do not appear in the actual episode.
- Additionally, Thomas delivers the jet engine to the Sodor Airport - which would not be introduced until three years later in the special Calling All Engines! - rather than Dryaw Airfield.
- This book was read by Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter at a Day Out with Thomas event in 2011.[1]
