Tidmouth station consists of two platforms with three through roads, covered by a glass roof. A large yard is situated nearby the station and is home to a small three-road shed, which was once the home of Thomas, Percy and Toby. Both the station and yard are located south of the River Tid, with the main roundhouse to the north on the opposite side of the river. It is one of the two "big stations" on the western side of Sodor, the other being Knapford, which later became the main terminus for the Main Line.
In addition to the main station at Tidmouth, there are a number of smaller stations serving the surrounding areas (see below). There is also known to be a dairy here, which owns several Milk Tankers.
Landmarks
Tidmouth Main Station - the main railway station for the town of Tidmouth, located just south of the River Tid.
Lower Tidmouth - a smaller station to the south of the town, serving the suburb of Lower Tidmouth.
Tidmouth Dairy - never directly seen or mentioned, but alluded to by the "Tidmouth Milk" lettering present on most of the Milk Tankers seen throughout the series.
Tidmouth was originally intended to appear in full in the first series, however was later cut, likely due to budgetary constraints.
In the second series, Tidmouth is sometimes erroneously referred to as the terminus for Thomas' Branch Line, likely due to the branch line sheds being located here.
Most characters from the second series had their nameboard shots taken on the set of Tidmouth, except for Daisy, who had hers taken at the New Harbour.
Tidmouth Drive in Columbus, Ohio, United States, is named after the fictional town. It is adjacent to several other streets also named after towns on Sodor.
