Edith is a large black Garratt engine from Australia.
Biography
Edith works on the Southern Australian Railway. When Thomas arrived in Alice Springs, Edith greeted him by blowing her horn loudly. Thomas was surprised and said he had never heard a horn as loud as that before.

Edith is based on a SAR 400 Class 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt. Two members of this class are preserved.

Trivia
- Although Edith is a steam engine, she has a horn, which was reused from Mavis' current fifteenth series one; which is actually Diesel's from Misty Island Rescue to the fourteenth series. Since her front looks just like a diesel engine, this could be the possible reason.
- Edith is the first cape gauge engine and first garratt to be introduced into the franchise, the second being Kwaku.
- While her name was not revealed in the official short, it was confirmed in an email from the animator Wip Vernooij that she was named Edith in the script.
