The Hawin Dooiey (sometimes spelled Hawin Dooey, Sudric for "Black Stream") is a river fed by the falls of Rheneas, which starts at Skarloey and flows to meet Ben Glas five kilometres southeast of Glennock. The river's name comes from its bed which is composed almost entirely of slate, therefore giving the waters a dark appearance.[1] The Skarloey Railway goes along the river on its way to Crovan's Gate. The line crosses the river on the Rheneas and Skarloey bridges. In the television series, Sodor Castle and the Whispering Waterfall are also located along the river.

Trivia
