- “What an awful noise!”
- ― The Diesel
Sounds Better is a rhyming magazine story.
Plot
The Fat Controller's engines have been working hard and are in the yard having a rest when they hear some loud music. The Diesel thinks the noise is awful. They soon discover that the noise is coming from the workmen's radio at the washdown. Bill kindly asks them to turn it off so that they can rest.
The peace and quiet does not last and sounds soon start to come from the station's waiting room. The engines do not mind this music though; it is the Sodor Railway Jazz Band rehearsing for a show. The engines like this sound so much that they ask if they can attend the show.
