“I'm on high alert due to bad weather!"
"I can go anywhere - in any weather!”
― Harold and Percy

Percy's Promise is a magazine story, illustrated using images from the television series.

Plot[]

One morning, Thomas is puffing along the coastline, taking some children to the beach. He meets Percy who is hauling some trucks to the harbour. Thomas asks if Percy will take the children home later. Percy is happy to help.

Later, Percy sees Harold who is on high-alert due to bad weather. Percy isn't concerned and, at teatime, Percy collects the children in the pouring rain. The rain is so bad that it floods the railway line. Percy is losing steam, but he valiantly plunges on through the floodwater. He is determined to keep his promise to Thomas and with one last effort, he brings the train home.

Thomas is very proud of Percy for keeping his promise despite everything. The Fat Controller arrives on Harold and calls Percy a really useful engine.
