“I must keep going, or I'll be a hen house again!”
― Bulgy

Back on the Road is a rhyming magazine story.

Plot[]

Bulgy is rolling along the roads, calling out for customers to buy his fruit and vegetables. Suddenly, Bulgy's motor pops and he rolls onto the side of the road. His driver is concerned as people are waiting for their fruit and veg. Bulgy knows he must get going; he does not want to be a hen house again.

The next moment, Oliver puffs along with some workmen on his train. While Oliver waits in the yard, the workmen help to fix Bulgy. It is not long before Bulgy's motor is in good working order again. Bulgy is extremely grateful and tells each of the workmen to help themselves to an apple for their troubles.
