Creaky Cranky, originally titled Thomas and Creaky Cranky, is a book in the Thomas Story Time series illustrated using photographs from the CGI television series.

There is to be party on Sodor and all of the engines are busy. As Thomas puffs into the docks, James and Henry are pulling heavy loads. Thomas must collect food for the party. Cranky is grumpy because he cannot move. Thomas then teases the crane by calling him "Creaky Cranky". Cranky teases Thomas back and calls him "Tiny Thomas". Thomas is cross and wants to show Cranky how strong he is.

Thomas collects James' load of wood and Henry's load of straw bales and challenges Cranky to lift them. Cranky lifts it easily and keeps on calling Thomas "Tiny Thomas". Thomas says that if he is so tiny, then Cranky can lift him. Cranky does not want to let Thomas win, so he lifts the blue engine.

Cranky lifts Thomas and with a crack, he breaks his crane arm. The Fat Controller arrives and scolds both Thomas and Cranky. James and Henry collect parts to mend Cranky and Thomas is put back on the rails. Thomas understands now that being strong is only good if you are also really useful. Cranky tells Thomas that he is not really tiny and Thomas tells Cranky that he is not really creaky and they are both happy to be friends again.
