- “Green is a jolly good colour!”
- ― Henry
Colour Quarrel! is a magazine story.
Plot
Donald and Douglas are sure that black is the best colour for an engine. Gordon and Thomas insist that it is blue. James tells them all that smart engines are painted red. Henry disagrees and states that green is a jolly good colour. The engines are so busy debating colours that they do not notice two trucks watching them. They are annoyed by the engines' quarrelling; they are dirty and grey and they do not make a fuss. The two trucks shower the engines in dirt and coal dust. Now they are all a dirty grey colour. The Fat Controller is cross and orders them all to be washed. Douglas apologises for starting the argument and admits that green, red and blue are all good colours for engines too. Everyone agrees with that.
