Cartoon Network is a Satellite television channel owned by Turner Entertainment that aired Thomas & Friends in the United Kingdom on an early morning timeslot from 1995 until 2001. The fourth and fifth seasons premiered on this channel. It is also known as the channel that owned shows such as Ed, Edd n Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Ben 10, Adventure Time, Regular Show, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Codename: Kids Next Door and others.
Each broadcast consisted of three episodes from the first four seasons in a random shuffle; Season 5 joined the slot in 1998. It also airs Thomas and Friends in Japan as of today, as well as Pingu, another HiT Entertainment owned production in both Latin America and the United States from 1996-2001 (2006 in Latin America).
Thomas & Friends now airs on Cartoonito, the pre-school equivalent of Cartoon Network.
- The opening bumper for Cartoon Network broadcasts features Duck, Henry and James passing through Wellsworth, but they are three engines and only two tracks pass through the station. Duck is also missing his funnel.
- The opening bumper features the Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends logo used on the Australian VHS releases of Season 4, whereas the bumper leading out of commercial breaks into the second or third episode features the logo used in the actual opening credits of episodes.
- Thomas has been parodied in the MAD episode “RiOa/Thomas the Unstopabble Tank Engine” and the Robot Chicken episode “Hemlock, Gin and Juice," which are both Cartoon Network productions.
