- “This canvas makes a splendid tent. Now I can enjoy my picnic in the shade and pretend I'm camping, too!”
Caroline Camps Out is a magazine story.
It is a scorching hot summer's day on the Island and Caroline is on her way to a picnic. Caroline becomes so hot that she fears her engine will overheat. Then Edward puffs past and a cover from one of his trucks comes loose and lands on Caroline. Caroline grinds to a stop and Edward's crew runs over to reclaim the cover, but Caroline asks to keep it.
The men secure the cover so that it looks like a tent, covering Caroline. Luckily, Edward's crew had a spare cover for the truck and Caroline can now enjoy her picnic in the shade.
- In one illustration, Edward's coal appears to be brown and his running board continues beyond his tender.
