There are several cargo lorries seen around Sodor. Some of them are soft-sided lorries, while others are open lorries. The open lorries have been known to carry crates, stone and even water tanks.
The cargo lorries are based on designs by Austin, Dodge and Leyland from the 1940s and 1950s.
The cargo lorries are painted blue, red, green, yellow and grey.
- In the Railway Series pop-up book, Bertie the Bus and Thomas the Tank Engine, a green soft-sided lorry has a face.
- An red open lorry's model is currently on display at Drayton Manor.
- A blue open lorry is owned by the Sodor China Clay Company and has 'SCC' printed in its sides in green.
