C.G. Slate Company, previously known as Crovan's Gate Mining Company, is one of the businesses that mines slate from the hills around the Skarloey Railway. They own a building located at Crovan's Gate, where slate is transferred to the North Western Railway. In the early days the Sodor and Mainland Railway used to bring slate here before the company closed down. A few years later, the company was later reopened and was renamed, the North Western Railway now brings slate here.
It appeared in the Railway Series book, The Little Old Engine and also made an appearance in a Mr. Perkins' Storytime segment, although It did not appeared in the television series.
