Brave Thomas is a magazine story.
Plot
Toby is happily chugging down the branch line when he sees smoke in the field on the other side of Mrs. Kyndley's Cottage. It is a fire and Toby chuffs slowly through the smoke to the next station. Once there, his driver calls Sir Topham Hatt and the fire department. Sir Topham Hatt tells Thomas that there is not enough water in the fire truck's tanks and that a tanker of water must be taken to the field straight away. Thomas does so and quickly braves his way through the smoke. The firemen are happy to have more water and are able to put the fire out. The next day, the fire chief gives a special certificate of bravery to Thomas for his help.
