A Special Treat is a rhyming magazine story.
Plot
Diesel and the other engines are feeling fed up as the rain was pouring outside their shed. They all agree that what they need is a celebration! The Fat Controller thinks a celebration would be grand and announces that they can have the day off and hold a party in the sheds. So preparations go underway, a date s set, people are invited, and the engines grow more and more excited.
On the big day, even Diesel has to admit he no longer feels sad and Thomas looks splendid in his party hat! Everyone has a splendid time and the next day, whilst back on his branch line, Thomas thanks the Fat Controller for a splendid time.
