A Special Christmas Santa is a magazine story.
It was Christmas Day and while all the engines don't have any work, Thomas had volunteered for a special job. He was going to take the Fat Controller with a sack of toys to the children hospital, dressed as Father Christmas. So Thomas was all decorated with baubles and tinsel to make him look like Father Christmas's festival train. With the snow laying all around, his driver had to put on his snowplough. But the sacks of toys hadn't arrived yet. The Fat Controller arrived, he was dressed all in a red coat, black boots and a white beard, but he still wore his top hat to keep his head warm. He had bad news. The lorry carrying the toys had skidded off the road and the sack fell out from the back and no one can find it.
Thomas puffed along his branch line churning through the heavy snow. Everyone felt too sad to sing Christmas songs. But up ahead, Thomas saw something blocking the line. His driver put the brakes on and stopped. It turns out that it was the sack of toys. They happily arrived at the hospital and the Fat Controller went to the hospital with the toy sack. After the children had unwrapped their presents, they looked out of the window and thanked Thomas. He whistled back a Merry Christmas.
